Editors comment: Where do I begin? Sue paints a subject that I personally find difficult. As a watercolour painter I really do appreciate the work that this artist produces, take the big image above, 'Pears', the fruit appears ready to eat, the texture is quite amazing and the depth of the picture is tremendous. Lovely, lively colours combine to make this painting stand out from a crowd. Lovely.
The first painting here is 'Jug, mug and pear', it is a rare composition and in charcoal. The 'Onions and garlic - coloured pencil', work is exceptional, colour pencil is a tricky medium, no problems here though. 'Geranium' is just beautiful, rich reds complimented with deep green make an outstanding work, almost real. The painting 'Purple Primula' is the opposite, what I mean is we have cool blues complimented with pale pastel shades of green. 'Hellebore Foetidus 1' is one of the artists favourite I think, all Hellebores have a special place for Sue and it shows with the exquisite detail in the finished paintings. Brilliant.
