Editors comment: More beautiful boats in the harbour after the water has long gone, boats seemingly devoid of all dignity now the water is not present. Wrong, these boats have bundles of dignity it is just in a different form, I like to call it character. Just look at the distant town, the boat sheds, all inspiring.
That is just the one painting, there are many more. 'Low tide at St.Ives' just lovely. 'Porthtowan Sunset' another of Russell's subject is light, excellent, 'Stormy day North Cornwall' is moody, very moody, but look at the water, so real so inviting. 'Harbour Wall St.Ives' more boats waiting patiently for the tide to turn. Last but not least, 'On the River Fowey' you really do need to see the original as my thumbnail is poor.
Overall Russell Aisthorpe is an outstanding artist in either watercolour or acrylic, a final point is that most of the artists work is available in print form, £25.00, not much is it, not for a work of art. Enjoy your visit.
