Editors comment: As an owner of a Border Collie and have been all of my life I am bound to choose a painting like this. Beautiful, an excellent drawing is followed by a top class painting. All of Karen's paintings display this same attention to detail which is vital when drawing animals. Animals have long been the subject of artists the world over, some paint them okay, some brilliant, and a few just outstanding, this artist is of the latter, I recommend this site to any animal lover. More so if you love Collies...

Editors comment: I am a sucker for Border Collies, having always owned the breed it is no surprise I love them. This painting is perfect, the drawing is excellent, it has to be, and then the brushwork, so precise. The colours are blended quite beautifully, pastel is not an easy medium to use but Carol seems to have no problems. There is much more I could say about the artists work but you be your own judge, I am delighted to be able to recommend you to pay a visit, if you love animals you will love these paintings.

Editors comment: Marc uses pastel in a loose, sort of, flurry of strokes. He places great emphasis on light and shade and has a keen eye for perspective. Most of the work is of floral subjects but he has a couple of lovely cliff and beach landscapes, one of which 'Secret Cove' I find very appealing, a true glimpse of Cornwall. I fully recommend that you pay a visit. A couple of the paintings I really do like, take a peep and see for yourself. Bye the way, there is an opportunity to buy greetings cards, a nice idea for Christmas.

Editors comment: Graham has a style that is completely David Bellamy, for those who don't know David's work you can trust me when I describe him as a watercolour genius. Graham has a hard act to follow. However, he has developed his own style with the Bellamy influence showing in his finished work. Atmospheric mountains is just one description of Graham's work that I apply, Y-Garn is a mountain I know well, the artist has captured it quite beautifully. Take a look you will be impressed.

There is a competition for an A4 print of Julie's work. A talented lady who is capable of re-producing animal or human portraits seemingly with ease. Excellent work and an interesting site.

Painting portraits of any living subject requires a lot of skill, there are many parts to the initial sketch that can go wrong, the face in general takes in many tiny details that must be right for the finished painting to work.
