  • Editors comment: This painting reminds me of the Long Mynd in Shropshire, it is in fact Oban in Scotland. A beautiful painting that shows the palette, that the artist uses, well. Nice cool greens give the painting 'depth', the gentle rolling Perthshire hills given a sense of size by the stone white-washed cottage. Lovely work that I can thoroughly recommend.

Tom Henderson Smith

100-tall-2
  • Site Name: The Art of Tom Henderson Smith
  • Site Description: Tom’s vibrant paintings and atmospheric charcoal drawings explore the ways that human presence over thousands of years is reflected in Cornwall’s landscape forms.. Pieces based on Cornish Festivals like Golowan and Lafrowda are another feature of his work.
  • Editors comment: This painting is 'Cape Cornwall and the distant isles', it is so romantic almost, we have the cool blues fading away from us into the beautiful calm yellows. With just a hint of yellow in the sky and sea itself the whole composition blends quite beautifully. The lone piece of land gives the whole image a sense of distance. Lovely work.

  • Site Description: Online gallery of Devon artist, also contains painting progress Blog.
  • Editors comment: If you like photographic paintings you will absolutely love this mans work. Everything in all of the paintings is captured down to the smallest detail. The paintings themselves are created using bold colour, even the subjects that are in the distance receive the same depth of colour and attention to the finest detail, this gives an overall feeling of warmth and reality the likes of which you don't see very often. Incredible detail, beautiful paintings.

  • Editors comment: Beautiful flowers, I don't paint flower pictures myself but I do know a good one when I see it. An excellent drawing is followed up with a sound application of paint. One painting in particular I do like, it is a Passionflower and it's lovely, rich in tone and bright lifelike colour, stunning. If you enjoy flowers and flower paintings you will enjoy Sue's work. Go and take a look, you will not be disappointed.

David Byars

David Byars
  • Site Name: David Byars, Artist
  • Site description: Landscapes of character and atmosphere in acrylics and water colours.
  • Editors comment: Yorkshire mill towns, woodlands, old derelict buildings, and close up studies capturing textures and light. The artist manages to capture the atmosphere in his paintings, they ooze atmosphere. What I like about the work is the way they can make the visitor relax, just settle back and enjoy the view. Excellent artist.

  • Editors comment: There isn't a lot I can say about this work except beautiful. The open landscape, often very difficult to draw never mind paint is captured by David quite beautifully. I say difficult because most artists, me included, like some foreground, this gives a painting a sense of distance so if you look at this painting on the left you will realise just how good it is. Looking at it you can see miles of distance, no definitive foreground though!, like I say, excellent. You really will enjoy your visit to this site.

Joe Hush

  • Site Name: Landscape fine art by Joe Hush
  • Site Description:Traditional landscape fine art paintings by Northumberland artist Joe Hush, Medium - Acrylic and Watercolour.
  • Editors comment: What can I say about this artist that his work alone does not say. Joe is a master of catching light, it only takes a fraction of time for mother nature to sing her song and then it's gone again, only to start all over again. Artists have toiled since time began to 'catch' light. The text below is taken from Joe's own site, it says far more than I ever could. A super artist painting beautiful pictures.
  • Light can transform an otherwise uninteresting subject into something that inspires you enough to paint it. Imagine a wooded walk on a dull day, muted tones of greens and greys, then the sun breaks through the clouds and immediately casts shadows across the earth track, not now dull but an earth warmed by the sunlight.
