Mountain Gorilla Print - The Thinker

Site description: Wildlife art, originals and prints at very realistic prices. Online demos, book reviews, links and much more - an excellent art resource not to be missed!

Editors comment: Well what can I say?, these paintings are awesome, a well painted wildlife picture is something to behold and these are well painted. It goes without saying that most of us enjoy looking at these magnificent animals from the safety of our armchairs, I could not imagine facing up to anyone of these, and so when an artist such as this young man paints this type of picture I, and most of us, will thank him.

The artist has no problems with the drawing of these animals and so it follows that if the drawing is accurate then the painting has a good chance of success, these paintings are a success. A visit to the site will show you what I mean, a darn good site design as well !!.

African Lion Spring-Loaded (Tiger) Siberian Tiger That's Close Enough Mountain Gorilla Print - The Thinker

Let me begin by taking a look at this first imaged, 'African Lion' the accuracy is outstanding, as it is with all of Jason's paintings. The two 'Tiger' paintings above are exceptional in their detail, it can become easy for us to forget just how good the details are in Jason's work and take the accuracy for granted.

Paintings below, the 'Silverback Mountain Gorilla' is very near to being alive, how on earth do you get a painting like that without being attacked, it is a fact that Jason obtains the original sketch from having one or more 'live' sessions.
I expect a number of photographs are taken with that sketch. Still too close for my comfort !!

The large image below gives us an insight into how the artist 'builds' his paintings, the size of the work is quite incredible, it is indeed an honour for us to be able to see this stage of a painting. I notice one thing straight away, it is already begriming to look like a threat, my wife says I'm just a coward !! She is not wrong.

Wildlife Artist - Biography Hi, and welcome to my Wildlife Art Gallery..

I don't know why I have this all encompassing desire to paint wildlife....to be a wildlife artist.... perhaps I will never know, but when I am painting, then nothing else exists.

I am right back at the scene where I first saw my subject.

Back with the lions of the dry savannah of Savuti and the elephants in the lush vegetation of the Okavango Delta...... It's almost as if time stands still as I relive my memories through painting... More >> >>
