  • Site description: Original paintings of the Isles of Scilly by Steve Sherris Full of warm, vibrant and often intense colour reflecting the ever changing light and sea colour found around the Islands.
  • Editors comment: More paintings from the isles of Scilly, oh how I envy these artists, I cannot think of a better way to spend the day than painting views like this. I can feel the water lapping my toes, that means the painting is working. The artist catches the light in all of it's natural glory, the colours are warm and relaxing, the whole piece works. I really do recommend a visit, you may even want to buy one, lovely.

  • Site Description: Online gallery of Richard C Horne. Original oil paintings with echoes of impressionism, surrealism and realism.
  • Editors comment: This artists work is quite amazing, this painting on the left looks for all the world to be metallic, I'm not quite sure how you get that effect but one thing is for sure it is unique. Richard seems to have great skill with the technical drawing of the subject, to draw the human form with perspective as strong as this takes some doing, in fact the more I look at it the more I wonder, very clever. There are many subjects on the artists site and all are drawn and painted with the same skill. Excelent work.

  • Editors comment: Simplicity itself, a lesson on keeping things simple, what do I mean? no clutter, easy on the eye and all of this because of the composition. The artist is careful not to let the painting become too busy, there are no background colours fighting to get out, the painting is the person and that's it. A lot of Trudi's work follows this pattern, it's good, very good. The drawing of the figure is also uncluttered, taking simple lines and just letting the work flow, I like it, a lot. I suggest you go and take a look and judge for yourself, you should enjoy your visit.

  • Editors comment: The text above is part of the artists own description, it is absolutely accurate...
There isn't much that I can add to describe this artists work, stunning in one word. Nicholas seems to extract the smallest of detail from his subjects, admittedly they cannot argue with him, joking aside these portraits are about as good as it gets. The image here shows good composition in that there is no part of the painting competing for top spot except the horse! sounds silly but some artists, me included, can sometimes put too much in the background, not here though the background is just nondescript. If you like horses or just like looking at good art then go and take a look you will enjoy them.

  • Site Description: Paintings around the U,K.Especially in & around Kent and Sussex
  • Editors comment: There really are some lovely paintings on show here. The artist paints what I call traditional art, the open English landscape of which many a fine artist has worked down the ages, beautiful paintings of the sea and its surroundings. Victor seems to be successful at capturing the atmosphere of the scene quite well, the moody skies and the rich earth colours of nature. From boats lying on there side in the estuary to miles of open countryside he does it well. Go and take a look for yourself.

  • Editors comment: Warm and inviting was my first thought when visiting Steve's site, the image on the left here shows a good blending of warm and subtle colour. Overall I was impressed with the different shades and use of colour tone, the artist separates the different colours into galleries of there own so you can browse your favourite colours. I do sometimes wonder about composition in paintings like these but I'm not so sure it's important, I am more traditional myself but art has a wonderful way of reaching into our lives. If you like a touch of modern, if you yearn for something peaceful then visit Steve's site.

  • Site Description: Original oil paintings, prints & cards. Fine detail portraits of pets and people, serious and humorous.
  • Editors comment: If this isn't a beautiful painting I don't know what is, it's stunning. Drawing animals is bit of a gamble, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, Janet's seem to work all of the time. The dog here is very well represented by the artist, a very good drawing is then followed by a first class painting using colours that show the dog accurately. The composition is well thought out and all of the work is to this same standard, If you are an animal or human portrait lover you should enjoy your visit.

  • Editors comment: More beautiful work, I have a good job. Anyone who knows France will recognize this subject here, it's a typical French rural village scene in the Dordogne . The artist has a good drawing skill which is evident in this painting, also we see lovely cool shade in the warmth of the sun that again makes me yearn for the sunshine. I like the work and I think you will as well. Oh for summer!!!!

  • Editors comment: This artist paints the type of work I sometimes envy, I'm never quite sure what the subject is but what I do know is that it's different. The work is actually quite clever in so much that it is very unique, not painting like someone else is a talent, don't get me wrong we all paint like someone else to start with and then we develop our own style, this artist has moved on into the future ! it's excellent.
