  • Site description: Japanese inspired images with a western twist using metal leaf and traditional gesso.Tranquil Moons and flowers painted on metal leaf and shimmering raised work birds painted on hessian.
  • Editors comment: The image on the left here is called: .Cherry Blossom in Moonlight'. Unfortunately what I cannot show you is the full size image, this shows more detail of the 'canvas', I say canvas with caution as it is in fact hessian and the graining of the material is exceptional. The distinct grain with the hessian adds yet more quality to the other media used, it is a work, I think, that needs to be seen live, no other display methods could possibly do this justice.

  • Editors comment: This painting is beautiful, the rocks, the river rushing through them, beautiful. 'The river Lyn, Lynmouth Devon' is the full title and it was this beautiful small river that turned into a raging torrent that caused so much destruction all of those years ago. It's tragic. The artist has concentrated on the river detail and she has done a fantastic job, the distant blurring, the soft middle distance and the excellent detail in the foreground. A first class piece of art that is available as a print, excellent value as well, a better investment than any bank !!

  • Editors comment: Carol has some terrific paintings on display for us, she seems to excel in most subjects, at least all of the ones I have seen to date. This painting here is extremely seductive, in a nice gentle way, the skin tones are perfect, the cool blue background works, a brave choice that but it has paid off. There are lots of paintings within the artists site that could keep you occupied for some time. Nice work, I enjoyed my visit, I almost forgot, there are some beautiful cool blue seascapes, beautiful.

  • Site description: Colourist Luke Maitland is a versatile painter who enjoys working with an array of styles and media.
  • Editors comment: Luke paints in a, what I call, a 'quaint' style, his work is unique without any doubt. The vivid reds in this painting are complimented by the cool blues of the road. The small amount of yellow draws the eye into the centre of the work, clever that. This shows how well thought out each work is, everything seems planned well in advance. A terrific style, I like Luke's work quite a bit, the quaint style alone counts for a lot. A first class artist, no doubt about it.

  • Site description: Stunning landscapes and abstract paintings in oil and acrylic inspired by the Sussex Coast and Downland
  • Editors comment: This artist paints with amazing passion, it is evident in all of the work that Chrissy gets 'inside' her subject. The mood of the weather, the wind, I mean I really could go on and on. The artists work gives me a sense of the atmosphere, so much. Her use of colour is extremely bold, strong brush strokes as well, I can imagine these paintings take an emotional toll in the sense of the sheer wanting and need to convey the subject. Wow, she can paint, all equal in feeling, excellent and I recommend you to take a look.
This painting is featured in the 'Brighton Festival'.

  • Editors comment:  Claire has many paintings, and digital images, but I have chosen this one just because of it's glorious colour, excellent colour perspective and tone. All of the necessary ingredients for a painting to succeed. Just look at the beautiful pinks of the Foxglove, so true to life it beggars belief. Claire is a wonderful talent and deserving of your time, lovely work.

  • Site description:  Botanical and general illustration, mostly watercolour.
  • Editors comment:  Terrific work this is, the artist seems able to pull designs from fresh air and create work like this piece. Ley has lots to offer the visitor, not just illustration. There are some incredible items of jewelry using items found on the beach. 'Sea glass', an amazing use has been found to shape pieces of glass that has been washed around by the oceans and ends up on our beaches. A very interesting artist with some unique work on display that includes some fine nature study art, like the cone on the left here, really very nice.

  • Site description:  Mainly in mixed media, of boats and harbour's in Penwith, Cornwall. Also some still-life and landscape.
  • Editors comment:  I find Tom's style uniquely refreshing. Some of the work like this one here ' Harbour with Lighthouse' is just so different, it offers a very different view on life to what I am accustomed to. The artist uses a strong palette to create depth and although the perspective is spot on it gives the impression of being 'wrong', it isn't,it just looks strange. One of the paintings, View from ' The Mousehole ', is just so complicated, but complicated with every day life. An amazing artist with an amazing skill. Pay a visit and you will see for yourself.

  • Editors comment: I do admit to liking this artists style, nothing too strong, a gentle mix of light colours and just look at that reflection, is it good or what. The way that Roslyn blends the colour to give a beautiful transparency to the overall painting. Just lovely. I can recommend you to pay a visit, you will enjoy the work, I certainly have, not expensive either, treat yourself to a new year investment.

  • Editors comment:  I have chosen this image because I just love architecture, this thumbnail does not do the painting justice, the full size image is beautiful. Paul paints with a distinct style in so much as he looks down on his subject, I cannot possibly describe it so you really do need to visit his site, you will not be disappointed if you like this type of work. Great work.
