  • Editors comment: This is one of those works that drive me insane, the drawing is of a flower, Amanda doesn't say which one but I think I recognise it as a hydrangea. It's extremely well drawn and the pencil work is very good. The shading of the drawing has been achieved very well. Pencil can produce a stunning piece of art all on its own, this one is just that, it does not need colour. Terrific work and there are more of them for you to view.

  • Site description: Much of my inspiration comes from nature, and I consider myself a colourist/watercolour painter, but enjoy other mediums and styles too.
  • Editors comment: This painting in, watercolour, gouache, shows nice cool blues again but with the gentle, almost, introduction of warmth using yellows blending with reds, not much, just enough. Barbara has an excellent grasp of colour and it's methods of application. Lovely work and pleasing on the eye.

  • Site description: Paintings & Prints by Plymouth based painter Russell Aisthorpe, specialising in Coastal, Harbour & Estuary scenes of Devon & Cornwall.
  • Editors comment: Russell's paintings have atmosphere, mood and quite bold use of light. It is this combination that we see here, beautiful and very pleasing on the eye. Without light of course we have nothing but it can be a difficult subject to get right. Russell has no such problem, lovely work and I do recommend you pay him a visit, you will enjoy your time there, I certainly have.

  • Editors comment: The image on the left, 'Honey' is a very poor reproduction, it just does not do the work justice. If you can spend a little time visiting Tim's site you will see what I mean. This image has a depth of richness that I struggle to describe, the golden effects are beautiful, the light seems to bubble up from within and radiates out to the edges in smooth gentle sweeps. You really do need to see it at its full resolution. Excellent.

  • Site description: Landscapes and woodlands/Scenes of Cumbria and the Lake District/Boats Coasts and Harbour's.
  • Editors comment: The Lake District, ahh, for those who have never been fortunate enough to have ever been there, you are missing one of natures great jewels. The washy skies and the incredible colours on display would take anyone's breath away. This painting is of one of those typically moody days that really are synonymous with the Lakes. I have to confess that Susan has me just slightly envious of the owner of that house. This painting is another one of her amazing views of life that is all around us..

  • Site description: Paintings, batik and batik scarves.
  • Editors comment: I have chosen this painting because of it's incredible simplicity, 'Blue And Peach Reflections' is an original title but the word for me is 'Reflections'. To say this Acrylic is excellent is an understatement, Nicola has used the least application possible to obtain a stunning painting. Nothing is overworked, nothing looks labored, it all just looks so easy. Painting is everything but easy though, the artist knows exactly when to stop. Trust me that's a key attribute.

  • Site description:Contemporary floral designs and abstracts, in keeping with today,s modern decor. Suitable for living areas, offices receptions and hotels. All can can be commissioned.
  • Editors comment: When I first visited this artists site I was immediately taken with the fact Joanne can paint an excellent portrait as well as abstract floral. I say this because some people make the mistake of thinking an artist who paints abstract cannot paint 'proper' pictures. Joanne has painted this picture 'Blazing Tulip' with the same vigour and skill as the portrait shown in the 'Mixed' category. The strong contrast of the dark background is brightened by the striking yellow of the flower. A nice piece of work that would;d grace any light coloured wall. Nice one.

  • Editors comment: It's a job to choose the right paintings to show you, they are all outstanding, whether it's an original or print they are excellent. Look at this image here, is it good or what, how do I describe a painting that is so realistic it needs no describing! Surf ice to say I recommend you to pay a visit, if you are looking for a painting to hang in your home then what about this one. To see more of Colin's paintings follow the link below.
