  • Editors comment: I love this pretty watercolour, "Strumble Head Lighthouse", the owner of this painting has a good eye for watercolour and it's clear translucent quality. The incredible colour of the heathers and gorse would have been a challenge, why!, get them wrong and it's a puddle, get them right and boy, it's a joy to behold. The artist has many works like this on display and I recommend you pay him a visit, a nice chap as well. Happy viewing.

  • Site description: Landscapes and woodlands/Scenes of Cumbria and the Lake District/Boats Coasts and Harbour's.
  • Editors comment: The Lake District, ahh, for those who have never been fortunate enough to have ever been there, you are missing one of natures great jewels. The washy skies and the incredible colours on display would take anyone's breath away. This painting is of one of those typically moody days that really are synonymous with the Lakes. I have to confess that Susan has me just slightly envious of the owner of that house. This painting is another one of her amazing views of life that is all around us..

  • Editors comment: I have chosen this painting, 'Tintagel and Merlin's Cave', because I am familiar with this area of Cornwall. John has captured the sheer wildness and rugged terrain perfectly. Make no mistake it is a long way down these cliffs and the artist has it right. John uses a style that is slightly reminiscent of J M W Turner and I like it.

  • Site description: Paintings, batik and batik scarves.
  • Editors comment: I have chosen this painting because of it's incredible simplicity, 'Blue And Peach Reflections' is an original title but the word for me is 'Reflections'. To say this Acrylic is excellent is an understatement, Nicola has used the least application possible to obtain a stunning painting. Nothing is overworked, nothing looks labored, it all just looks so easy. Painting is everything but easy though, the artist knows exactly when to stop. Trust me that's a key attribute.

  • Editors comment: When I first visited this artists site I was immediately taken with the fact Joanne can paint an excellent portrait as well as abstract floral. I say this because some people make the mistake of thinking an artist who paints abstract cannot paint 'proper' pictures. Joanne has painted this picture 'Blazing Tulip' with the same vigour and skill as the portrait shown in the 'Mixed' category. The strong contrast of the dark background is brightened by the striking yellow of the flower. A nice piece of work that would;d grace any light coloured wall. Nice one.

Look at this image here, is it good or what, how do I describe a painting that is so realistic it needs no describing! • Editors comment: This painting of 'Trevance Cove Beach' is of my liking, the painting, an original oil, is not overworked and looks fresh as a result. The painting shows excellent colour perspective and tonal balance, it would be easy to get that wrong with a subject like this. Once again I must stress that every artist has work to this standard and I admit to being at a loss over which images to choose. The only thing I can do is urge you to pay a visit to the site and form your own conclusion.

  • Editors comment: Nicholas has a talent that I find very rare, his technique seems to be unique to himself and no other artist that I have ever met, how on earth you can achieve translucency on this scale I don't know. Some of his paintings seem to trick you into thinking that you are looking through glass and the reflection of something else shines through. You really do need to see for yourself, super work.

  • Site Description: Impressionistic dramatic paintings in an impasto style, passionate and emotive. Charcol Life Drawings in the German Expressionist Style.
  • Editors comment: As a lover of Rugby Union and sport in general this site has given me great pleasure, the way the artist captures the movement of the players is excellent. One has to wonder at the skill in knowing when to stop painting, if that sounds ridiculous think about it, to much detail and the painting would lose the atmosphere, very clever.
The technique of the artist is further demonstrated when you view his life drawing pages, again Allan seems to know just when to stop, brilliant. I really do recommend that you pay a visit, this is another artists site that you will enjoy.

  • Site description: Vivid representations of the countryside in acrylic. Landscapes, seascapes and contemporary flower portraits.
  • Editors comment: Elise uses a strong palette to create some of the most striking paintings I have ever seen. In particular I like, no I love, the beach scenes, especially the ones with figures in, I think they give off such a feeling of warmth it's incredible. As we approach the dark, wet, depths of British winter, I find these paintings a comfort.

  • Editors comment: I have chosen Towpath Troubadours as the image for this category, it is again so complicated and full of minute detail it beggars belief. This painting is composed of so many different subjects it is hard to process in one go, I find that the more I look the more I discover. John's work is very much on this theme, the work demands more of your time. I like this style because it stands out from the crowd. Brilliant, I love it.

  • Site description: My work is vibrant and colourful being influenced by the French Impressionists.
  • Editors comment: Talk about complicated! Where would one begin to draw this composition? just look at the lines and curves, it is surely a skill just to get past the drawing. We have gentle blue at the back, we have warm natural tones in the table and the material draped across it and more lemons in beautiful scooped containers. Patricia paints a very desirable picture, maybe one for the house, your house! I could live with one of these works without doubt. Absolutely lovely.

  • Site description: My site is a collection of my recent art work, mainly figurative, embracing many topics and conveying the emotive aspect of the subject.
  • Editors comment: Just beautiful, beautiful, that is my opinion of this artists work. Margaret has a unique style and I love it, she is not afraid to draw people, people in various positions and more to the point people on the move. She seems able to freeze the subjects in time yet if you look close you can see the subject in slight motion. When we take this image of the dancers you can almost here the music they are dancing to, I think the work is truly inspirational and have no problem in asking you to visit the site.

  • Editors note: A very refreshing look at modern art when one uses a little imagination. Steven uses a good palette of strong colour, excellent composition and a flowing imagination. One suspects that there is a deep motive to Steven's work, or is it just a little magic, either way we are left to wonder. I have no problem in recommending this artists work to you, especially if you enjoy a little modern/abstract art.

  • Site description: The nature of my art is in the naive style with an engaging use of colour and imagination. Combining my style with mixed media brings texture, emotion and pleasure to the images.
  • Editors comment: It is breath of fresh air to see work like this, after all this darn rain it truly does inspire some warmth. The artist chooses a completely different aspect to what we have come to expect, looking down on this subject creates all manner of problems, perspective being the main. However, the perspective is spot on, Katherine must spend a lot of time creating the image, first of all in her mind and then into the painting. Excellent work, it really is.
