Let's take a look at this painting here, 'Thoughts of the Skies' the two thirds one third rule is applied, this can be a problem with some artists who simply don't understand the reasoning behind it. The deep blues sweeping down to the warmth of the yellows and reds. Stunning, my image cannot do the original justice, you need to see it for yourself.

Editors comment: I absolutely love painting boats and have no problem enjoying this artists work, boats that fall in all manner of positions when the tide ebbs away are intriguing subjects. You get a combination of shadows and reflections, reflections that are present just for a while in the wet sand pose a sense of urgency for the painter. You will notice the strong sunlight on the buildings behind, just lovely. Oh yes, you will need to visit the artists site to see that one clearly.

Editors comment: 'Lily Pads' is the name of this watercolour, and once again we have this skilful application that the artist makes look easy when it's everything but. I like water for a subject, the light dancing on the surface is so tricky to get but so pleasing when achieved. Considering this is a compressed image file I wonder what the original looks like. I can only imagine, the original is sold, not surprising.that's . The balance of yellows against the blues is striking, a satisfying contrast that brings 'life' to the work. Beautiful.

Editors comment: Shirley describes her work as 'colourful, bold and expressive', she is right. This sunset here is absolutely soaked in bold, strong colours, the main reds 'flow' onto the canvas and blend in with the other darker colours. I suppose this piece is 'bold and strong' but hey you know I sometimes see this type of end to the day in North Wales, just as bold and just as much colour. Beautiful. Just look at the 'eye' in the top centre, almost overpowering. Lovely work for all of us to enjoy.

Editors comment: Lucy paints some of the oldest subjects on this planet, and others as well. The heritage that is on the artists doorstep is beyond belief and she makes good use of it. This painting, 'Glistening pebbles' is one example of a study of time itself. From pebbles on the beach to ingrained rock formations Lucy gets it right. There are some beautiful atmospheric paintings using a gentle palette of pastel tones. Amongst all this we have figure paintings, lovely ones as well. You must visit to see what I mean.

Editors comment: I have chosen this painting because of it's warmth, although abstract it gives us a glimpse of something we recognise. The monochrome palette is used to good effect, a very soft, washed background leading to the stronger colour that gives the work the sense of depth. A good many of Karen's paintings are too abstract for me but I love this one. I think you will enjoy the work as well.

Once loaded you will be quite amazed at the different types of work, like this one here, lovely yellows and green leading into purple. The differing subjects all follow one theme, warm colours tastefully blended. This work would look good on most walls. I like the paintings very much and can recommend you to take a look, be aware of the *.pdf format though.
