Editors comment: This painting of the 'Mazey Day, Penzance 2007' is exceptional, why?, it is an unusual angle, the viewer is peering over peoples shoulders to just catch a glimpse of the activity ahead. The atmosphere is buzzing and the painting has captured that buzz. There is another reason I have chosen this work, it is to be sold by sealed bid auction at Rainyday Gallery, Market Jew Street, Penzance during Golowan week 2008 ending at 5 p.m. on Mazey Day (Saturday June 28th). Proceeds to be donated towards future Golowan festivals.

That is a good reason. I must also mention Tom has an exhibition of recent paintings and charcoal drawings at the Spring and Steele Galleries, Falmouth Arts Centre, Cornwall, September 30th - October 11th 2008.

This is the sort of style you either love or don't, if you do you will be absolutely thrilled, it really can be hung on almost any wall without fear of clashing as the finished work will be to your spec. The artist also creates imaging on transfers of pet animals. A very talented lady, you should enjoy.

Ian paints using light and dark in extremes, an incredibly good way of giving a subject life. Strong contrast can impart a feeling of great distance, take this painting, we have strong foreground giving way to a distant light. Editors comment: If you are an animal lover you will enjoy Karen's paintings, if you are a dog lover you will want one. An very good drawing is followed by skilful brush strokes, applying the paint in just the right places. The artist has a strong and traditional style that is easy on the eye, each painting is an accurate re-production of the owners pet and I for one would be satisfied if it were my beloved pet. I really can't say much more other than to urge you to pay a visit, you will enjoy it. It's just a shame there aren't many paintings to see.
